How to reduce an image to 20 KB
- Choose the original. Use a JPG, PNG or WebP file up to 20 MB. Starting with an already compressed copy can make small details harder to preserve.
- Keep Maximum at 20 KB. Leave Minimum at 0 unless the form specifies a range. PhotoSizeKit treats 20 KB as 20,000 bytes.
- Set the pixels, if required. Enter both width and height from the form. If no dimensions are specified, leave both blank so the tool can reduce them as needed.
- Resize, inspect and download. Check the file size shown next to the output. Make sure the face, lettering or pen strokes are still clear before submitting it.
Why is the result smaller than exactly 20 KB?
A maximum of 20 KB means the file should be no larger than that limit. A 17.8 KB result can satisfy a 20 KB maximum; it does not need to be exactly 20.0 KB. If the portal also specifies a minimum, enter that separately. The tool checks the actual byte count and does not add filler data just to enlarge a file.
What if the image cannot fit?
Large pixel dimensions and a very small file limit can conflict. With fixed dimensions, the tool reduces JPG quality but keeps your width and height. If that still produces too many bytes, it reports the problem. Lower the dimensions or raise the limit only when the form allows it.
When dimensions are on Auto, the tool can also shrink the image. Check the resulting pixels: a file that meets 20 KB may still be too small for your application’s dimension requirements.
Keep detail while making the file smaller
Begin with a sharp, well-lit image and a simple background that follows the form’s instructions. Cropping unnecessary empty surroundings in your device’s editor before resizing may help, but keep the required face framing or the whole signature. Avoid repeatedly saving and recompressing the same JPG.
The download is always JPG. Transparent PNG and WebP areas become white. If the form requires transparency or a different output format, this tool’s JPG output will not meet that requirement.
